* What is OPTIMOOR?
OPTIMOOR is a computer program for the analysis of a vessel's mooring geometry and is widely used throughout the industry to confirm the integrity of mooring arrangements alongside berth.
OPTIMOOR uses the methodology and criteria set out in the OCIMF publication, Mooring Equipment Guidelines Fourth Edition 2018.
The OCIMF requirement for a ship mooring arrangement is that the integrity of the mooring should not be compromised in a 60-knot wind, from any direction, with the following current criteria :
- A 3-knot current from ahead or aster or
- A 2-knot current 10˚ on either bow or quarter or
- A 0.75-knot current at 90˚
